Here are my TOP picks for the best islands to visit!
Known as the party island, Barbados is a small island in the Eastern Caribbean. Bridgetown is the capital and is home of the cruise ships whenever they come to town. Surrounded by old colonial architecture, great food and warm weather, the island has more than enough reasons for you to plan your next trip there!
9- St. Thomas:
Located in the Virgin Islands, St. Thomas is one of the more affordable islands for travelers to visit. It has awesome snorkeling, kayaking and boating activities that travelers of all ages will love. Charlotte Amalie is the famous cruise port and home of several authentic Caribbean dining and shopping.
8- Puerto Rico:
Still located on U.S. Territory, Puerto Rico is a popular tourist destination that doesn't require a passport to get to! With amazing landscaping, waterfalls and the world famous El Yunque rainforest, PR is definitely worth making a trip to. Be sure to visit Old San Juan for it's soothing charm and Spanish colonial architecture.
7- Phi Phi Islands:
The Phi Phi Islands are a group of islands located in Thailand. They sit between Phuket and the Malacca coast as part of the overall Krabi province. With so many islands to see and tour, Thailand and the Phi Phi Islands should be on every travelers bucket list!
6- Key West:
Key West is another U.S. island that doesn't require a passport to get to. It's located in Florida about 90 miles from Cuba. Also a cruise port, Key West is famous for it's amazing beaches and water sports. You can also check out the shipwreck or Ernest Hemingway museum for more history of the island.
Most known for it's picturesque blue and white dome shaped buildings, Santorini is a beautiful island located in Greece. Surrounded by the Aegean Sea, the local beaches are absolutely spectacular. When you get there, be sure to check out the iconic black sand beach known as Perissa Beach.
Nassau is the capital of the Bahamas which hold a record of roughly 700 total islands. Only 30 of which are actually occupied by humans. All surrounded by breath taking beaches, I highly recommend a trip to Nassau. Stay a at the Atlantis resort and you'll be dying to get back year after year.
My personal favorite on the list! Anguilla has it all, beaches, scenery, food and friendly locals. It sits in the Easter Caribbean and has several smaller islets surrounding it. This island boasts the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen and I've seen a lot of them! Don't leave this travel hot spot off your bucketlist!
2- St. Maarten:
Saint Maarten is a French collective that shares an island with Sint Maarten. Not to be confused, these are 2 very different places. Filled with beaches, cobblestone streets and some of the most welcoming people I've ever met, St. Maarten will always be high on my list of places to visit!
1- St. Kitts:
Saint Kitts and Nevis sit in between the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. With mountains, hiking, water sports, beaches and so much more- you can't go wrong with taking a trip here. It's also a cruise ship port, so you don't necessarily have to fly directly there. The weather, the food, the water- St. Kitts definitely stays #1 on my list of islands to visit.
